Family education…

So this post is a little late, but never-the-less very important.

After we found out about Chloe’s diagnosis,  it took us time to digest it all.  When all was said and done, we told the family amd extended family about what’s going on.  Sure enough, after the “oh my goodness I am so sorry to hear” came the questions.  “So was this about how she ate?” My immediate reaction was, “seriously, this is what you have to say?”  So, education was the key. Type 1 Diabetes was an autoimmune disease and it is not due to diet. I explained the difference with Type 2 Diabetes.

It’s always quick to blame the parents when something goes wrong.  People have to realize that sometimes shit happens that is out of everyone’s control.  Well guess what, Type 1 Diabetes is not curable, and right now it’s out of everyone’s control.  It’s not known how it happens or why it happens, but it happens.  Chloe is insulin dependent.  I wish she wasn’t, but I’ve learned the hard way that wishes dont happen.

Don’t be a prick!
